It's all right but I really enjoyed my rental but I wanted to keep the car a few more days but it was so expensive to do that. I was disappointed with how high the rates go up during the week. But overall experience was great!
In a nutshell, this place is terrible. I booked a rental car online prior to my flight. On their website, it said that is would be $200 (and some change) for a rental for a few days. I paid that and assumed my rental was good to go. Once I landed in Minneapolis I made my way to Thrifty to pick up a vehicle. After waiting in line for a few minutes, I was the next one to be helped. At that point, the Thrifty employee behind the counter, made eye contact with me and then walked past me to a break room. She never said a word. So I awkwardly stood there waiting. Someone else finally came out and assisted me. I told him that I had a car reserved. He took my information and then proceeded to tell me that I still owed $570. I stared at him confused for a moment and asked him to repeat himself. He once again told me that I owed $570. I informed him that I already payed $200. He told me that simply was the car fee and now this was tax and what not. I was a little flustered and upset at this point. This compact car, for a few days was now going to cost me over $700. I asked if they could refund my $200 because I would like to rent from Enterprise. They informed me that they could not refund me. At this point I reluctantly handed over my credit card. I was tired from my flight and already in $200. Once they handed me my paperwork, they sent me into a large parking lot where I had to wonder around looking for a car. Once I found one, I had no idea how to check it out. So I went to the Thrifty office in the parking lot to ask for assistance. Once there, I found another customer standing in there. There was no employee to be found. So I stood there waiting for almost 10 minutes. Once someone showed up he asked "what's up". I replied I would like to take this particular car. He said okay, the keys in the car. That would have been nice to know when I checked in. All in all, I am extremely disappointed in the poor level of customer service and the hidden rental fees. Next time I am not going to settle and simply rent from Enterprise. No wonder why Thrifty and Dollar Rental are struggling.
I enjoyed the vehicle I rented....it was more than I expected. The service counter personnel were friendly and helpful. Pick-up and drop off were quick and uncomplicated. I'll rent from Thrifty at this location again.
Thrifty honored our reservation even when we arrived late due to a flight change. They were courteous and offered a selection of vehicles. We would use them in the future.
I had reserved a compact car. I was directed to take any car from 5 certain parking spots. Upon leaving the parking garage, the scan of the windshield sticker indicated the car should not be rented. I was given unclear directions about what to do with the car and how to get another. (In the meantime those parking spots had been filled with other vehicles.) To complicate matters, I was unable to understand the parking attendant, even though his name tag suggested he was from a country where I have traveled extensively. I returned to the main desk, was given an upgrade car at no higher cost. All this hassle was after a red-eye flight with no sleep. After that, the car was good. There has to be a better way to rent a car, especially with a reservation.
