Terrible Experience, will never go back. Horrible service, average food.
* After 45 minutes from seating, our group was starving, so I had to walk up to the bar to grab their attention and ask for at least some bread to gnaw on.
* Took 20 minutes to get a drink order in for everyone, then the acting "manager" and server disappeared for another 20, finally reappearing with our drinks.
* Salads start to come out at 7:45-7:50. Our main meal is finally out 90+ minutes after seating. I didn't dare ask for a water refill, so I grabbed a pitcher of water by a food stand for our table.
It does the job for a date night or nice dinner. About 80 for a full coursed date night plus drinks.
* Lastly, an apology was offered up for the slow service because they were understaffed. To respond to your comment, we don't care. You knew you had a larger party coming (we reserved days ago), yet you didn't staff appropriately to handle it.
The food was excellent (my date and I had the pappardelle with wild boar meat and the ravioli with butternut squash/ricotta). Also enjoyed a half priced bottle of red. The service was also great with a charming atmosphere. However, later I realized there was no music playing for ambience. Could have used that for sure, but hey, it's a little thing. Still go.
* Another 5-10 minutes pass (and after seeing other tables receive bread), our bread finally arrives. We order our food, (well after other tables around us have had multiple interactions with their server to order food, get refill on drinks, etc.) Before the server leaves we asked for refills on water. The server said she would be right back. Low and behold... you guessed it, another 15 minutes pass until we get a refill on water. Not drinks, WATER.
* Now we're at 7:30 and all we have been able to accomplish is getting one refill on water, some bread and a drink order. Really?
* Most of the party commented on how bland the food was, the spaghetti and meatballs was average at best and quite frankly, the bread and water were the tastiest part of the whole meal.
My wife and I had a lovely dinner tonight at Rinata ... our first time there. Delicious pasta carefully prepared, a 1/2 price bottle of Italian red wine, a lovely waitress, and the best gelato this side of Milan. Reasonable prices to boot.
We had reservations for a group of seven for 6:30 on a Wednesday. The only positive I can say about the experience is that they had a table ready for us when we arrived. From there, it was all downhill.
* At 6:30 we were seated, while the rest of our party made it about five minutes later.
This is a cozy, cute little place with lovely food. The menu changes often with what's fresh. Sunday evenings they have a great date night is a great deal. You should make a point to visit this romantic little place when you're in the Uptown neighborhood.

My recommendation: There are plenty of other fantastic Italian Restaurants in and around MSP that make their food in-house from scratch. I would highly recommend taking your hard earned money and your business elsewhere.
