Met a friend on the rooftop for drinks and a bite to eat and ended up having some of the best chicken wings I have ever eaten. They were the coffee rubbed wings and were hot and crispy with a hint of coffee flavor and balanced spice and salt that was so delicious. We shared the sea bass with risotto, with perfectly seared fish and great flavor. The risotto was a tiny bit thick, but delicious. I cook a lot and was a sous chef, so it can take a lot to impress me.

This place has good events but that is all they have going for them. I went to The Union for brunch one day and my fiancee and I both decided after two "mimosas" that they were too disgusting to drink any longer. They use fake orange juice and who knows what for champagne. After going home, we both had the worst migraines of our lives - the first one I had ever had, and we did not drink much, mind you. Whatever is in those "mimosas" is absolute POISON. Aside from becoming violently ill and having to cancel the rest of our plans, the food is expensive and of below average quality, and the service isn't as responsive as one would desire.

If I could give the union rooftop 0 stars I would. We went here last night 12/27/17 for my friends birthday. everything was going well until we got our change back for our bills. My bill was $15 and I gave him a $50. The change I got back was $23... does that seem right to you?.. no. My correct change would’ve been $34 but I asked him and Said my change would be $34 so he continued to take out his wallet and give me my correct change.this showed me that he took the money for himself as a tip. Absolutely disappointed

NEW YEAR'S EVE REVIEW: I have never seen a more poorly organized coat check in my life. Coat check was in the middle of the dance floor and coats were hung in the kitchen. The line took 50 minutes to check my coat (starting at 10:30 pm), because of the slow opperation: counting change manually, unorganized line, and they ran out of hangers. We waited on a line to check coats, only to find out upon reaching the front that we were not in the correct spot, and our coats would not be checked unless we were within a specific 2 foot section of the 9 ft table. There were no markers surrounding where to stand, which left everyone very confused. Support staff was trying to be helpful to guests, while General Manager was working coat check in the back, and appeared to just be screaming at everyone. It was -13° on New Year's Eve. Not sure how a bar that sold tickets ahead of time could run out of hangers.

A group of friends and I went to Union for their new years Eve party, and paid about $40 per person for the cover charge to get in. That wasn't far off from everywhere else, so that was fine. We got to Union at 10:30 pm and you physically couldn't walk through the building it was so packed. We waited for 30 minutes in a line for the coat check, that we eventually abandoned to hold our coats all night long. At this point I didn't need anything additional to drink, so I waited my turn at the bar and asked for a water. The bartender acknowledged me, and continued to ask other people if they wanted anything else. For some weird reason, at this moment, no one else needed anything. So he asked around again if anyone needed anything, continuing to ignore my request for water. He then left the bar, without fulfilling my request. Interesting that a $40 cover can't even get you a water. I'll be sharing this story when people ask about my experience with Union.

Summary: $40 cover charge won't even get you a water at Union.

We sat on the open part of the patio, rather than under the retractable roof and were glad, even though it was sunny, because it was stuffy under the glass roof. Our server was friendly and attentive and I wish I had gotten her name. The manager also came by and asked us how things were. The only thing I would suggest is don't serve water in plastic cups and make people ask for straws to cut down on waste.
