I sat for 3 hours in the hallway with my tibia exposed. The doctor stitched me up on a gurney in the hallway. The staff is excellent, unfortunately they are overwhelmed with addicts seeking drugs. I sat in a wheelchair in a hallway with a huge gash in my leg while I listened to people try to get meds for toothaches and headaches. We need to give staff the authority remove these people to clear space for real emergencies. My bandage fell off in the parking lot.
If you want your loved ones to die send them to this hospital, they only try to make the sick sicker, and their ultimate goal is to make as much money off of you with unnecessary surgeries. They are cold and mean, If you are black do not come to this hospital you will not leave it. The staff is very RACIST and black patients and their family members, they give lesser health options as they leave life changing or rehabilitating medicine for white patients. This is a white hospital black people will not receive equal treatment here. They ignore them until something bad happens, their staff lie and so does patient relations, patient relation does not work for the patient they work for the hospital. I agree 100% will the other post about this UMMC being a DEATH HOSPITAL, it is very true. Don't believe the positive reviews they are lies and are trying to support an evil hospital that makes money off of killing people. GO TO MAYO YOU MAY HAVE A BETTER CHANCE. SANDY ALEXANDER IS EVIL AND A RACIST SHE TRIES TO HARASS BLACK FAMILIES AND PATIENTS, DO NOT TRUST HER, THE HEAD OF THE HOSPITAL IS JUST AS BAD AS HE IS A BLACK MAN MAKING MONEY OFF OF HELPING KILL HIS OWN. IF YOUR LOVED ONE COMES TO THIS HOSPITAL YOU SHOULD PLAN THEIR FUNERAL IN ADVANCED, THIS IS A DEATH HOSPITAL THAT IS FOR PROFIT AND MAKES MONEY OFF OF HUMAN LIVES.

Food service was good,easy to use. Food itself is probably a step ahead of similar operations.
This place is a DEATH hospital as someone else mentioned it too. Staff are not friendly at all which is not the worst thing about this place. The doctors are horrible, patients are just numbers to them. There are so many students doing very critical procedures on the patients. They treat patients like laboratory rats. The doctors change every couple of days with a dozen of new students each time. It's horrible. They do not care about the patient's life at all. Try to avoid this place, there are other hospitals in the area.
Delays were reasonable .it is a complex process involving many disciplines and the communication between teams seems good although improvements can always be made.

My experience as a patient seemed pretty similar to the Zach Braff TV show "Scrubs".
