It's a phenomenal venue for being non-profit and worked by a volunteers. It's great to have a place in MN where culturally diverse musicians and artists can perform. Their concessions are good too with a lot of local beer options, hot beverages and snacks.
I came here to see a band in the middle of winter, until then I had never heard of this place before so didn’t know what to expect. Tickets for the show were inexpensive so that was a great start.
Great music venue, they have a large selection of drinks both alcoholic and non. Great chai tea also. Every time I've attended the mix coming out of the PA has sounded phenomenal.
The name of the venue is misleading, as most of the venue is constructed out of brick, rather than cedar. I was rather disappointed but I was able to tolerate the misdirection. However it also wasn't very cultural, and that's what really got to me. 90% of the crowd was white and the white man took my land so that's not cool.
I love the Cedar. I know that I like seated shows and acoustic music more than most so that helps. It’s in a weird part of town and parking isn’t great. However, it’s a nonprofit and it oozes community spot in the most loveable way. I’d encourage you to see a show here. The sound is good and the shows always have an awesome intimate vibe.
Inside the stage is fairly small, although I was in at the last second I was really close to the stage. They had a giant coat rack for everyone’s coat in the corner which speaks about the size of this place.
Getting to the theatre, I was loving the big sign they have calling it out. Parking across the street in the garage was easy (but not free).
The folks serving drinks were really cool and friendly, smile from ear to ear. Overall this place is really pleasant and I know to expect a good time if I find myself here again.
