I went here for my birthday. It had beautiful paintings and a lovely gift shop. The pictures all looked sad, however.
Unique venue. The gallery was converted from a church. There's a two-level gallery with an open upper level that allows you to look down into the main. I like the specific focus on Russian art. Art is a great way to learn about a culture. The gallery is not large, probably a 2 hour stop.
This was my first time at the Russian Museum of Art. They had three showings at the time and I toured two of them with a docent. It was an excellent experience and I would recommend it to anyone that is considering going to this Art Museum.
The Museum of Russian Art, or TMORA, is a window into an oft-maligned culture. Rarely am I bored when I visit, and the cultural events are wonderful (particularly if you're learning the language like I am). A word of warning; they are a bit White Russian for my taste, but they're adults about it, and fully acknowledge the existence of the Red viewpoint.
The Icon exhibit was amazing. Detailed descriptions, beautiful artwork. Fully accessible to wheelchairs.
