The decor is beautiful. We sat under a large multi-panel stained glass window. The after dinner spumoni was very good. Or waiter was very attentive. The bread was hot and tasty.
We arrived and were told it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait. Seemed odd with all the empty tables. It seems like they were skimping on staff to cut costs. The food was very bad. The "large"meatballs the menu promised were small hard balls of unflavoured meat. Meatballs should have more ingredients than just hamburger. Very lazy. I got a plate with lots of dry noodles and a small portion of sauce, so disappointed.
*It brings lots of pleasant memories back to mind when our children were younger and we lived in Denver, Colorado and now even as married adults...living in Minnesota!!
They should sell to someone who is passionate about American style Italian.
THE BAD
It was so fun to sit and visit with these other couples so it was nice to have that bonding time as we were waiting!
The Decor is done in a red velvet and red cushions and huge Chandelier lighting and in the middle of the huge restaurant with cavernous ceilings sits an old fashioned red train caboose that you can also sit in at the tables inside!
that they could choose a scarf ...we put a little note on there saying feel free to take a scarf and to keep warm!!
We just wanted to bless the neighborhood around there!!
Our table Waitress was a little slow with getting our water and drinks and even our food came in later.
this was a little Ministry for our group to help out some of the homeless,
This Alex guy at the bar. Rude. Sassy. I don't think he really understands that customer service is the reason why restaurants succeed or epically fail.... he just needs a little TLC but overall tge other staff is great. The space is beautiful and so perfect. The food isn't too exiting but I also like a lot of spices and flavors.
We met here with our Bible study group for a Christmas dinner on a Friday night in December and the food was excellent!
Before we went into the restaurant we walked the streets in Minneapolis and went to drop off some handmade scarves we had made or bought and tied them on the poles and the trees downtown...
We had a Guthrie reservation for 7:30, and so made a reservation at OSF for 5:15 pm on a Tuesday for 8 people. The restaurant was not busy. Some people arrived late, but we had all ordered by 5:45. Food did not arrive until after 6:45, well after other tables which arrived after us. We informed the server of our schedule. The dessert arrived after some of us had already left to pick up tickets, and some members of our group didn't get dessert. Food was acceptable but service and scheduling was below average. Would not recommend.
We always love the Old Spaghetti Factory...
THE GOOD
I saw some pretty negative reviews but we felt like Italian and went anyway. I must say it was tremendous on every level. The drinks came first, then the appetizers, salad, etc.(I'm a stickler for this) and beyond this perfect order was courteous staff. The food was excellent; more authentic than olive garden, etc. With large portions and rich Italian ice cream dessert is even included! Oh, and the rustic J.I. Case building is extraordinarily magnificent. You cannot go wrong here.
