Great food at a low price! Gluten free, vegan and organic heaven as well as meat lovers alike. The staff are incredibly happy, friendly and helpful people whether you are coming in for casual counter service, or craving a fine dining experience in the Bluestem wing. The menu is the same no matter where you sit, and the food is always delicious! 1/2 priced Wine Wednesdays are a real treat. By far one of the gems of Uptown!
Fast forward to now, and their food is lazy and complacent. For example, the green curry, was so sweet I was barely able to finish it; the rice in in mushy, and the chicken thrown in as an afterthought. As another data-point, we also went to the airport location for breakfast, and had similar feelings.
As a long time fan of French Meadow Bakery (I used to live in Uptown, and frequent here multiple times/month), it saddens me to see what this place has become. I'm glad that they've been successful, but it's come at a price - the experience is nowhere near where it used to be. In their heyday, their ingredients and quality was top notch, and the overall experience wonderful.
Many thanks to the unknown fellow diner who turned it in to the wait staff. All in all, delightful experience.
TL;DR: this place is not what it used to be. Success has meant giving way to maximizing profits by delivering a lower standard of food and general experience.
My first time here, I ordered the Cajun hash with bacon and eggs on top. The staff was nice but when i think if Cajun I think of bold flavors; I would call this dish bland. Not horrible but no spice or much flavor at all added lots of salt pepper and saracha. The bacon is nitrate free, which is good but does taste different then your average nitrate filled bacon. Beautiful space inside comfortable and inviting. The coffee was A1.
Had brunch there today with a friend. Great quiche! Also left my purse in the bathroom.
Wonderful atmosphere. There are two sections, one where you can beserved and one where you order from the counter. We chose to order from the counter. Food came out very quickly! It was delicious as well. Vegan/vegetarian is clearly marked.
