Beautiful waterfall, right on the Mississippi River. Lovely statue of Hiawatha. Nostalgic bridges, winding stairs and serpentine trails down into the gorge, and lots of humongous trees. Even in late fall there were many tourists (like me), Moms pushing babes, and joggers galore. I (myself) was grateful for the many park benches available along the way. It’s a big place.
A stunning waterfall amid lush greenery and beautiful walking paths are some of the attractions of this park. You can also rent bikes and lorries to make getting around a little easier. There is ample (metered) parking around with currently the going rate at $1.00 an hour.
Beautiful place to spend a summer evening and great place for photography in winter as well. The fish at the Sea Salt Eatery is great too. Lines are long and food takes time but worth the wait. Sebastian Joes ice cream here is awesome too.
Our realtor suggested we take the light rail to Minnehaha Park to take in the fall colors and it was an amazing suggestion. We were fortunate to time the turning of the leaves almost perfectly and enjoyed a lovely afternoon walking around the falls and park. Transportation to get here was fast, cheap and easy via the light rail. I was surprised at how crowded it was on a Friday afternoon, but if I lived here, I'd spend all my time here, too!
We had a memorial service for my grandparents there. It is a beautiful place. My mother aunt and myself walked off and climbed the many stairs to go see the falls and it was beautiful. We had a little trouble finding the spot our family has reserved but once we found it everything was great.
